analytics

sleepcast uses google analytics to understand how the site is used, to keep it running well, and to get a rough picture of the userbase, how many people visit, which features they reach, what devices and browsers they use, and the general region they connect from. this is used for site management and product decisions, not to identify individual people.

analytics is off until you accept the consent banner (it is denied by default, and you can decline). if you accept, google analytics sets cookies and collects usage and approximate-location data on google's behalf. that data is handled under google's privacy policy. you can opt out across all sites with the google analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies for this site. sleepcast still works fully with analytics blocked.

what stays on your device

your feed choices, timer preferences, listening positions, and play history live in your browser's local storage on your own device. they are not uploaded to a sleepcast account, because there is no account.

audio and feeds

episodes are fetched from their original podcast feeds. when a request needs to pass through sleepcast's relay, the specific episode url is not logged. youtube playback, when used, loads google's player and is subject to google's terms and privacy policy.

no ads, no selling data

sleepcast does not run advertising and does not sell your data. analytics exists to run and improve the site.
